At 6:30 am KRNV TV reported the fire has been contained by hand crews overnite to one and a half acres. The crew will continue to work at the site throughout the day. No word on the cause yet.

Fire Update
7 pm. The helicopter left probably due to darkness. I can see flashlights just above the flames so maybe firefighters on the ground are making their way to it.
Slide Mt. Fire
We noticed this fire on the eastern slope of Slide Mt. tonight at about 6:15pm when I took this photo. A Helicopter with a bucket is dropping water on it now. It seems to be creeping along on the ground and not getting up in the trees yet.

Fire Restrictions Lifted
From the Nevada Dept. of Conservation website:
The Bureau of Land Management, the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the Nevada Division of Forestry announced today the lifting of western Nevada fire restrictions that have been in place since July 1, 2008.

KTVN- TV just reported the fire at the east end of Cottontail in New Washoe City up in the hills has been held to about 4 acres and is under control.

Brush Fire Reported
RGJ reported on their site that at 3:13pm a brush fire has been reported near Washoe City in the vicinity of Todd court in the north valley. Now, at 3:43pm I can see no smoke fom my location in New Washoe City.
