Mt. Family RV Closes

Mt. Family RV, in Pleasant Valley to the north, announced that they have closed their doors. This is one of the closest effects of the downturn in the economy to Washoe Valley. We met the owners a couple of years ago at a Reno RV show and even though we talked to them for less than 10 minutes we came away with the feeling that this was a local business owned by a local family who were our neighbors. While it is great that now you can have that motorhome for 50% off, it comes at the expense of local families that sold those items. We wish the family the best of luck in the future.

New Menu at Postal Cafe

Luanne and the crew at the Postal Cafe on Eastlake Blvd in New Washoe City are really providing quite a service there with the postal station and restaurant. Not only are they serving breakfast and lunch but have also expanded to dinner with an expansive menu for all three. Really, we picked up the latest menu the other day and it included and children’s menu, appetizer section, hot and cold sandwiches for lunch (18 selections) PLUS gourmet burgers and 7 dinner entrees! Plus a desert menu.

In these tough economic times, we should save a little gas and support all our local, small businesses- we’ll see you there!

Pumpkin Carving Time

The Nevada Sagebrush, the student newspaper for UNR, has an article on pumpkin carving, eating and buying. They report pumpkins are again available at our own Nevada Lynn’s Emporium in Washoe City at 435 US 395. They are open from 9 to 6 every day. Nevada Lynn’s always has a nice fall display and is a favorite fall outing for families all around the area. Check it out.

Postal Cafe Offers Dinners

The Postal Cafe in New Washoe City along Eastlake Blvd is now offering breakfast, lunch and Dinner from 4 to 8pm, Wednesdays through Saturdays. Dinners can be eaten in the remodeled dining area or taken out. A cozy new gas-fired fireplace will be completed just in time for frosty evenings.

The dinner menu includes seven varieties of 1/2 pound burgers, pasta, meatloaf, 4 salads, sandwiches and apps. The call in and order-to-go number is 849-2722.

Local Bull Riders Get Writeup

Teri Vance or the Nevada Appeal has written a great story about our New Washoe City Bullriding company, the Triple J Bull Riding Livestock Company. Johnny Howell and his son’s run the company which has a complete bull riding facility at their home. Bull riders and aspiring bull riders come from all over to practice their sport. The article highlights a traditional Nevada lifestyle and is a fine piece of writing. Check it out here.
