Fire Update 2

KTVN- TV just reported the fire at the east end of Cottontail in New Washoe City up in the hills has been held to about 4 acres and is under control.

“A small vegetation fire on the east side of Washoe Valley was quickly brought under control Monday afternoon by firefighters from Reno and Carson City.

Brush Fire Reported

RGJ reported on their site that at 3:13pm a brush fire has been reported near Washoe City in the vicinity of Todd court in the north valley. Now, at 3:43pm I can see no smoke fom my location in New Washoe City.

Wind Turbines Proposed For Virginia Range

Great Basin Wind is proposing the installation of 70 three-bladed wind turbines “on the ridgeline” of the Virginia Range mountains to the east of Washoe Valley, RGJ.com reports. A resident alerted citizens at a recent Silver City town meeting of the project.
