Update on Gourley Dam

On February 14th we received this update from Mr. Gourley:

“The Board of Adjustment just met regarding the Special Use Permit for the extension and dam to Joy Lake and heard opposition to the permit.  They also heard from the engineers who designed and supervised the construction as well as from fire officials and the Nevada Dam Safety Engineer (via letter).  The Special Use Permit for the dam was unamiously approved.  The reasons for delaying the permit were discussed. I believe that it was clear that the Joy Lake Extension will be a valuable resource for the firefighting helicopters of NDf and Washoe County in this high fire hazard area. Thanks for printing the pertinent information on this issue.
