The Bureau of Land Management has three vacancies on a national panel that advises federal agencies on the management of wild horses and burros that roam public lands.
The Wild Horse Advisory Board, which meets at least twice a year, is composed of people with expertise in topics including wild horse and burro advocacy, research, veterinarian medicine and natural resources management.
Tom Gorey, a spokesman for the federal agency in Washington, D.C., said the board categories open for nominations are wildlife management, humane advocacy and livestock management.
Members serve without salary but are reimbursed for travel and expenses according to government travel regulations, Gorey said.
Information about nominations and the federal wild horse program is available at www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/ prog/wild_horse_and_burro/Fact_Sheet.html.
The BLM will accept nominations including self-nominations through Feb. 17. They should be sent to the National Wild Horse and Burro Program, Bureau of Land Management, Department of the Interior, P.O. Box 12000, Reno, NV 89520-0006, Attn: Ramona DeLorme, or fax: (775) 861-6618.
