In the aftermath of the latest devastating wildfires in Southern California, firefighters are taking note of why some houses burned and others, sometimes next door, survived. Some things we might not think of allow wind blown embers to enter a home. for example, under eave vents and dog doors take advantage of extreme pressure differences in a firestorm and can suck embers in igniting the house from the inside.
