Washoe County has nominated:
“The county’s first nomination is the last 320 acres of the Winters Ranch and 1,500 acre-feet of water in northern Washoe Valley to protect wildlife, watershed and scenic values. The pastures are between Bowers Mansion Regional Park and U.S. 395.”
The money would come from land swaps in Southern Nevada according to this article in the RGJ. This is the 10th round of purchases from the program to purchase sensitive land from the proceeds of public land sales near Las Vegas to facilitate expansion of the city.
