Hi everyone –
We all love the meeting space at the WV Church parish hall, and hope you all who have not yet see it will come by and check out the meeting location.
The next Garden Group will be on March 17, 6:30 pm at the Washoe Christian Church on Esmeralda. It is a potluck, so please bring a dish to share. Also a $1 to donate for the church use for the evening.
TOPICS FOR NEXT MEETING
We’ll have a panel of Beekeepers presenting information about beekeeping and will answer questions about bees and their environments. There will be visual aids and perhaps other exciting demos.
Also, since there was not a lot of notice about Seed Sharing last month, let’s do it again this month. Bring seeds you are willing to share with others. If you think you would like to receive seeds of WV gardeners, bring envelopes, small ziplock bags, something to write the name of the plant and the variety.
I am attaching a lovely flyer from Ryan Sherrer from the Washoe Tree Nursery about a free workshop in May at the Nursery. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about pollinators in general. There are some requirements for registering for the workshop. They are:
1) Have an available backyard habitat space for pollinators and plants
2) Agree to plant the native plants obtained from the workshop by a certain date (TBD)
3) Not use pesticides in and around the garden
4) Allow photographs to be taken of garden space after planting
Now that we have plenty of space for meeting, remember to invite your neighbors and friends to join us. This is a community group.
VERIZON CELL TOWER HEARING ON TUESDAY, March 10, 6 pm
The Washoe Valley Alliance is urging all of us who are available to attend the Washoe County Commissioners meeting next Tuesday. They will be deciding whether to allow Verizon to construct a huge cell tower across from what was Dry Creek Nursery.
See you all on the 17th.
